Accessibility Statement

A site about avoiding cold showers and gas hazards should be readable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or high magnification. That is the standard we build toward.

The target

Embercrest aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative.

Built into the site today

  • Static HTML, one tiny script: every page, link, and phone number works with scripts disabled. The only script on the site swaps your approximate city name into a few labels near the phone number and touches nothing else. There are no carousels, pop-ups, timeouts, or focus traps, and the one animation (a small pulsing status dot) is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Semantic structure: landmarks, one H1 per page, and a logical heading order for screen-reader navigation.
  • Text alternatives on every image, including AI-generated illustrations.
  • Data tables marked up with proper header cells and placed in horizontally scrollable containers, so wide cost tables never force the whole page to scroll or clip on small screens.
  • Keyboard access: every link and control is reachable by keyboard with a visible focus indicator.
  • Color and scale: text colors are chosen against AA contrast ratios, and nearly all text is sized in relative units, so browser zoom and text-only scaling both work.

Where we still fall short

We have not yet commissioned a formal third-party accessibility audit; testing so far is internal. Alt text on AI-generated illustrations is drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by an editor, so it may occasionally describe less detail than a sighted reader gets from the image. Our contact channels are phone and email only, with no contact form, which we recognize is not ideal for every user; written reports always get a written reply.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this site is hard to use with your assistive technology, tell us: call (800) 555-0184 and say it is an accessibility issue, or email hello@embercresthome.com (both are described on the contact page). Naming the page URL, your browser, and the assistive software you were using helps us reproduce the problem. Accessibility reports are prioritized alongside factual corrections.

What happens next

Verified barriers are fixed in the next site build, and this statement is updated when the fix changes what we can honestly claim above. How we handle any information you share while reporting is covered by the privacy policy; the terms of use cover everything else about using the site.
